Traffic Skills 101

The class is designed to introduce the rider to bicycling as a means of lifelong recreation, fitness and transportation.  Students will learn and apply the rules of the road and basic riding skills and techniques.  Additional discussions will review safety, equipment, and route selection.  Demonstration and hands on experience with basic maintenance issues will be covered.  Parking lot safety drills and a 5 mile city route around downtown Fort Smith will be ridden as part of the course.  Each participant must supply their own bicycle and a properly fitted helmet.  The class covers the material for the League of American Bicyclists "Smart Cycling: Traffic Skills 101" course.  The course is taught by Mitch Durham, League Cycling Instructor #1942.
