The class is designed to introduce the rider to bicycling as a means of lifelong recreation, fitness
and transportation. Students will learn and apply the rules of the road and basic
riding skills and techniques. Additional discussions will review safety, equipment,
commuter needs, and route selection. Demonstration and hands on experience with
basic maintenance needs will be covered. Various road routes and destinations
within Fort
Smith will be ridden as part of the course. Each participant
must supply their own bicycle and a properly fitted helmet. This class covers
the material for the League of American Bicyclists Road I and Commuter courses. Taught by Mitch Durham, LCI #1942.
