Mountain Bike Rides

This is the route used for the on-street portion of the Bicycling Street Smarts course taught by Mitch Durham.  This course is the League of American Bicyclists Road I course.  Mitch is a League Cycling Instructor.

This loop is starts at Mitch's and makes a nice 10 mile loop on the road.  Most of the route has little traffic other than the stretch along Hwy 10.

Road route taken by Mitch from Work to Home.  Starts at Western Arkansas Counseling and Guidance.  Most difficult stretch is around mile 13 for the hill over Chaffee on Hwy 96.

A nice ride through the national historic military park.  Good ride for families.

This loop is a great ride following a 2 track dirt road for the first 3 miles with a generally downhilll run.  The last half is on a gravel road and is relatively flat except for the climb back up to the starting point.
A good combination of rock/gravel road, dirt track forest service road, and a final mile of downhill trail back to Jack Creek Recreation Area. Relatively easy but has a long one mile climb at the end of the rock/gravel stretch. There is a hiking trail paralleling the forest service road but it is not a great trail for bikes.  I would take this route as described in the first sentence rather than reverse since the transition from trail to forest road can easily be missed.
